ABOUT US

Who We Are

Saint Moses Relief Organization (SMRO) is a 100% volunteer-based Canadian charity, established in 2012. We are serving 23 dioceses in Egypt and Sudan.

We believe that together, we can be the voice for the underprivileged and the needy until they can stand for themselves.

Our focus is to help needy families in Egypt and the Sudans by providing food, clean drinking water, clothing, and medical care.

SMRO funds small businesses for adults and education costs for children.

Our Story

Saint Moses Coptic Relief Organization (SMRO),  is a Canadian Christian charity established in 2012.

The impetus for the charity came from Jesus Christ in His words  “whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” Mat 25:40

Years before its inception in Canada, SMRO worked in Egypt, under a slightly different name, to improve the living conditions of our brothers and sisters of Egypt.  In 2016 SMRO expanded its service territory to include North and South Sudan.  We accomplish this through partnership with 20 diocese in Egypt and 2 in the Sudans in addition to an army of over 500 church based local volunteers.

To lift as many  people, in Egypt & Sudan, as possible out of poverty by breaking the cycle, and providing nourishment and education to children, offering a second chance to youth and adults, and improving human dignity for the poor, homeless elderly

We envision a vibrant and healthy community with strong, well-nourished independent families as the foundation.

With every able youth having the opportunity to achieve his/her fullest potential and participate in and contribute to all aspects of life.

With every child in poor rural communities having access to quality education.

With all having access to clean drinking water.

What We Do

Through our efforts in the community, SMRO finds opportunities for men and women, aiding in the improvement of early learning, access to clean water and protection from the effects of extreme poverty.

SMRO helps people rebuild their lives through small business startups so they can provide for their families.

Some examples of these small businesses include starting a grocery store or tailor shop and providing vehicles for individuals to provide delivery services etc…

We not only feed the hungry but also tackle underlying causes of poverty, allowing people to become self-dependent.
